Appointing the right subcontractor is key to success

Our facade Bid Assistance services help the owner & architect appoint and guide the right sub-contractor.

Our detailed knowledge of the design, engineering, fabrication & construction of facades means we can collaborate with both architects & subcontractors on their own terms.

We leverage our extensive knowledge of subcontractors (international, national, & local) and the specific intricacies of the desired facade to:

  • Provide truly independent advice on selecting the subcontractors & suppliers best suited to the project & the owner,
  • Review the bid documents to identify gaps & non-compliant aspects,
  • Ask probing bidder interview questions to clarify design intent & key issues, identify bid gaps & non-compliant areas, discuss the schedule risks of different sourcing strategies, and examine the bidders’ fit for working in the team,
  • Work with the bidders to get the approach best suited for the project & owner, regardless of the subcontractors’ favored solutions, systems & suppliers.

Typical scope of work:

  • Review of cost estimates
  • Assist in the development of bid solicitation (RFP) documents (often based on the EBP work in the previous phase)
  • Review bidders’ proposal documents
  • Review & assess bidders’ proposed alternates
  • Assist with bidder interviews
  • Collaborate with the architect & bidders to ensure we obtain the systems best suited to the project rather than most convenient for the subcontractor
