High-rise

High-rise buildings are obviously glamorous but high-rise enclosures bring unique design and construction challenges.

We have wide experience of high-rise enclosure design across a variety of occupancy types, many in the seismically active pacific rim.  We leverage that experience to help architects & owners meet the challenges of high-rise design by:

  • Using sophisticated detailing to accommodate larger lateral movements within the desired aesthetic,
  • Early mock-ups to confirm aesthetics & performance prior to the fabrication of the many units required for the larger facade areas usually associated with high-rises,
  • Consideration of the effect of higher wind loads on external shading sizing & attachment points to ensure a robust design that doesn’t penetrate the water and air barriers,
  • Selection of systems & components to facilitate scaffold-free installation,
  • On-site testing to confirm air- & water-tight construction of ‘zipper’ at leave-out bays used during erection,
  • Advising on the ability of sub-contractors & their supply chains, particularly if sourcing from overseas, to meet the challenge of larger unit numbers.
